“I did not know this day would come! My baby is 92 days on earth and I look forward to him being a great man.” Said Sadda on her last visit before discharge.

“This is my story of a once hopeless and lost mother. My name is Sadda, I conceived at an early age of 18 and had difficulties during pregnancy and I ended up delivering my baby at only 6 months.

I delivered in a clinic but after 3 days I was referred to the neonatal unit. But the conditions were poor so I left and hired someone to treat my child at home but the condition was worsening so I came back to neonatal unit.

He was weighing 1.090kg, he was yellow, he could not cry or even turn or move his body, I knew he was going to die. I received all kinds of treatment. He was on phototherapy for two weeks until his yellow colour disappeared. We spent almost our entire two months on oxygen and the baby fed using a feeding tube. He was also diagnosed with a heart defect which they treated and later resolved. He had a scan and I was told he had a bleed in the brain.

I lost hope and would cry almost all the time.

I appreciate the hard work of the Doctor and the clinician. They would encourage me always.

I did not know this day would come! My baby is 92 days on earth and weighs 3.060kg and can breastfeed on his own. His name is Aklar Mohammed and I look forward to him being a great man!”
