Saving Newborn Lives
What an amazing start to 2018. Despite having at least 200 babies admitted to our tiny level II neonatal unit in eastern Uganda every month and only one paediatrician, 6 nurses and 2 neonatal clinical officers we are not only saving lives but we are saving even more lives than last year!
Since the initiation of the neonatal care programme and the neonatal unit in Mbale Hospital we have seen the death rate drop from 52% in 2014 to just 15% last year. And now in 2018, we are seeing only 11% of our babies dying! So instead of loosing one in two babies we save 9/10 of our tiny and sick friends!
Well done everyone who has contributed to this project and especially to all of you for supporting our work! We couldn’t do it without you!
If you are interested in supporting our project as we start moving our knowledge, skills and training to our lower level health facilities please get in touch or go to http://www.bornontheedge.org/get-involved/donate/ we would love to hear from you!
